How to Add Social Icons to the Header
Aurora displays social media icons in the header automatically once you have entered your social links. You configure them once and they appear everywhere the active layout calls for them: in the header and footer.
Note that links entered here are different from those displayed in Author blocks. See Adding links to Author social profile
How to Add Social Links
- Go to Appearance → Customize.
- Open Socials & Contact.
- Enter the full URL for each social profile you want to display.
- Leave any field empty to hide that platform’s icon.
- Click Publish.
Supported Social Networks
Aurora supports the following platforms in the header:

- Twitter / X
- TikTok
- YouTube
Each platform displays its brand icon from Font Awesome, loaded locally with no external CDN dependency.
Which Headers Show Social Icons
Not all header layouts display social icons in the same location:
- Apex, Detailed, Elegant, Overlay: in the top bar
- Vanilla: inside the slide-in panel that opens when the hamburger is clicked
- Thin: inside the expanded vertical panel
- Upright: in the vertical side panel
- Default: no social icons
On mobile, all layouts show social icons inside the slide-in drawer if the parent layout supports them on desktop. If your active header layout does not show social icons prominently, they will still appear in the footer as long as your URLs are entered.
Social Icons in the Footer
Footer social icons are controlled by a separate toggle. Even if your social URLs are entered, you can hide them from the footer independently using the Show social links in the footer toggle under Customize → Layouts → Footer Layout. This is useful if you want socials in the header but a cleaner footer.
